Sidewalk Café & More

The Sidewalk Cafe has a great selection of good food and great service. There's burgers to feed an appetite as large as the eastern Oregon sky (the Calvinator Burger is massive) and vegetarian sandwiches (the Brynwich) that fill you up for your journies. Also, fresh pies, desserts, and milkshakes that just can't be beat.

Delicious veggie omelette. Fresh zuchinni, asparagus, and brussel sprouts added to the normal veggie mix made this different enough to be noticeable. Freshly cut fruit side was larger and fresher than expected. Friendly service to top it off.

Sidewalk Cafe is a nice place to grab a sit-down meal in Mitchell, Oregon, or a generous milkshake, whether you're passing through or staying for awhile. The service is friendly and kind. The food is good home cooking. The chili dog was a particular kind of comforting and delicious.

The burgers at the Sidewalk Cafe are, hands down, the best in Eastern Oregon. They use Painted Hills all natural beef, and have unique menu items named after the locals. Their veggie burger is even great - usually this only happens at restaurants that cater to a more vegetarian leaning customer base. The milkshakes are awesome, and the specials go beyond the typical small town diner plates, experimenting with a diverse array of locally grown ingredients. I will drive 30+ miles several times/ week to eat here when I don't want to cook at home. If you want better food, you have to drive over 60 miles and pay for an actual 4 star dining experience. If you visit the Painted Hills, stop in and try the Jake Burger, buy some local raw honey from Calvin the beekeeper, and read the inspirational quote of the day on the wall.

Given that this is a small, very busy cafe with one waitress, you have to be patient for your food order. But you are rewarded with an excellent, properly cooked, tasty hamburger. Definitely one of the best burgers that I've had in Oregon or Washington. Also ordered a chocolate malt and it too was great. Had a slice of homemade blueberry pie to go and it did not disappoint. Will definitely stop here again next time through.

Good, simple American food. Great Tri Tip sandwich. Friendly. The town of Mitchell, OR and this restaurant were very welcoming and friendly during the inundation of people to view the total eclipse. Thank you!
